About University of East Anglia & The Enterprise Centre
The University of East Anglia (UEA) is an English public research university located in the city of Norwich. Established in 1963, the university comprises four faculties and 28 schools of study. Situated to the southwest of the city of Norwich, the university campus is approximately 320 acres (130 hectares) in size.
In 2012 the university was named the 10th best university in the world under 50 years old and 3rd within the United Kingdom. In national league tables, the university has most recently been ranked 18th in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times, 20th by The Guardian and 14th by The Complete University Guide. The university also ranked first for student satisfaction by the Times Higher Education magazine in 2013.
Features of the UEA campus include Earlham Hall, the childhood home of Elizabeth Fry, which is now home to UEA Law School; the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the western end of the main teaching wall designed by Lord Foster to house the art collection of Sir Robert Sainsbury and Lady Lisa Sainsbury. It also features as the new avenger's headquarters in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films; and "Sportspark", a multi-sports facilities built-in 2001 thanks to a £14.5 million grant from Sport England Lottery Fund.
The Enterprise Centre (TEC) is one of the UK's most sustainable buildings, a centre for student entrepreneurship, and a regional hub for innovators and businesses committed to a low carbon future. Built on a brownfield site at the University of East Anglia (UEA), TEC minimises greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of its life cycle. TEC was the first large commercial building in the UK to target both Passivhaus Certification and BREEAM Outstanding, two of the most rigorous sustainable built environment standards.
At Check Your Security, we excel in providing digital solutions for large Universities and hospitals across the nation. Working with the UEA's Enterprise Centre, we were able to excel in providing a security installation in keeping with the buildings green aspirations whilst not damaging the unique low carbon straw structure. We thrive working in challenging environments, and we look forward to new and exciting opportunities in the future.

A range of business tenants forms a vibrant and successful green business hub, operating alongside teaching and learning space. The building is also an inspirational venue for meetings and events. Multi-award winning, the building has received a multitude of accolades. Current total awards number eleven, was short-listed for a further four and is a finalist in four more. Award highlights include the Guardian Sustainable Business Award, BREEAM Award and Architects Journal Reader's Choice.
Modern university living spaces must be efficient and well designed to serve students and staff for years to come. The UEA has invested wisely for the future ahead. Deciding to use Gallagher as the main access control solution has enabled the university to easily integrate new buildings into their existing setup, allowing new doors to be added or old ones removed should the university desire. Check Your Security has provided the UEA with a complete security solution in keeping with their environmental credentials and the existing campus. They have achieved this by providing energy-efficient locks and state of the art IP based cameras that easily connect with the UEA's main control room that serves as a security hub for all security communications.
