About University of East Anglia & Blackdale
The University of East Anglia (UEA) is an English public research university located in the city of Norwich. Established in 1963, the university com- prises 4 faculties and 28 schools of study. Situated to the south-west of the city of Norwich, the university campus is approximately 320 acres (130 hectares) in size.
In 2012 the university was named the 10th best university in the world under 50 years old, and 3rd within the United Kingdom. In national league tables the university has most recently been ranked 18th in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times, 20th by The Guardian and 14th by The Complete University Guide. The university also ranked first for student satisfaction by the Times Higher Edu- cation magazine in 2013.
Features of the UEA campus include Earlham Hall, childhood home of Elizabeth Fry, which is now home to UEA Law School; the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the western end of the main teaching wall designed by Lord Foster to house the art collection of Sir Robert Sainsbury and Lady Lisa Sainsbury, it also features as the new avengers headquarters in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant Man and forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films; and “Sportspark”, a multi-sports facilities built in 2001 thanks to a £14.5 million grant from Sport England Lottery Fund.
The 915 bed Blackdale student residence development at the University of East Anglia on the former Blackdale School site in Norwich. The residences are urgently required to support a measure of growth in student numbers, to relax restrictions on the number who are currently able to live in residences and thus to maintain the University’s identity as a campus university, with an expected increase of 6.7% over the next four years.

Campus security presents a unique set of challenges, a University must provide security for staff and students all year round.
Usually the first time away from home for young students and a time of great change, as a result alcohol related problems are high on the list across the board for all Universities. Keys are lost and campus security is jeopordised.
Why Access Control?
Access Control costs less and is easy to manage for a quicker resolution and ease of access in an emergency. Keys can be provided and revoked instantly. Electronic locks with wireless options allows for ease of installation and low to no damage to walls due to no wiring, saving time and money.
"More than 25% of campuses report having to rekey a lock at least once a week"
The use of electronic credentials eliminates rekeying locks, saving time and money. The electronic credentials of having Access Control in halls of residence gives peace of mind to students and parents.
With student ID badges used as a means to pay for food or goods on campus, makes for a safer way to pay and access the library or gym and any other area of campus with ease and added convenience.
Check Your Security have been able to provide a cost effective solution, providing the cabling and structure to future proof Blackdale for years to come.
Trevor Price said “The Blackdale project provides an attractive new residential quarter for the University which follows a pattern of development that relates to the original campus buildings and also to the local environment. It will achieve very high standards of sustainability, and we now look forward to the completion of the project”.
Martin Lovatt, Senior Estates Project Manager at the University, said “This new scheme will continue the theme of the University providing excellent facilities for its students and enhancing their experience.”
