About The University of East Anglia & The Bob Champion Research and Medical Centre
The University of East Anglia (UEA) is an English public research university located in the city of Norwich. Established in 1963, the University comprises four faculties and 28 schools of study. Situated to the southwest of the city of Norwich, the university campus is approximately 320 acres (130 hectares) in size.

In 2012 the University was named the 10th best University in the world under 50 years old and 3rd within the United Kingdom. In national league tables, the University has most recently been ranked 18th in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times, 20th by The Guardian and 14th by The Complete University Guide. The University also ranked first for student satisfaction by the Times Higher Education magazine in 2013.

Facilities within the building include The Wolfson Research Wing, where UEA medical research scientists work, state-of-the-art laboratories and a unique bio-bank facility to store DNA and tissue samples. The wing is home to leading research into prostate cancer currently being undertaken by Professor Colin Cooper and his team and research into antibiotic resistance, musculoskeletal disease, and gastrointestinal diseases.

The building also houses seminar rooms and ‘The Roy Snelling Lecture Theatre’, used for undergraduate and postgraduate education. The first floor of the building has facilities for training medical students in rooms reflecting the functions of operational hospital bays. In the building centre is ‘The Big C Atrium’, named for the Norfolk & Waveney cancer charity. The atrium is a place where both students and staff can meet or grab a drink from the small café inside.

The Bob Champion Research & Education Building is important for the development and continuation of the world-class research at the University. Its position on the Norwich Research Park, standing across from the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, means that not only can medical students benefit academically and clinically from the mix of expertise in the facility, but that all research will now be closer to the other facilities within the Norwich Research Park. This includes the John Innes Centre and the Institute for Food Research.

At Check Your Security, our main focus is to listen to our client's needs and ensure we meet their objectives, exceeding expectations through utilising the latest technology and excellent customer service.

The Norfolk Bone and Joint Centre are also encompassed within the building. This area of research will be led by Professor Bill Fraser, who is undertaking nationally important work on osteoporosis. Action Arthritis and Norwich Town Close Estate Charity were major contributors to this aspect of the building.

Due to the specific set of requirements and needs of the multi-disciplined building, the UEA chose to utilise multiple access control products. This allowed for the creation of a diverse departmental security structure. Enabling Commends Intercom system, Gallagher and TDSi’s access control to be fully integrated, creating multiple access control options. In providing a complete solution for the Bob Champion Research & Medical Centre, Check Your Security has created a cost-effective product integration. Having provided a complete analysis of the building and gaining a deep understanding of individual sectors and any conflicting requirements.
